Rachel Ward, Volleyball

  • This is my 17th year working at the MRH school district. I was a high school math teacher and am now the Coordinator of Assessment, Data and Accountability for the district. I have three children who attend MRH schools and am an alum myself. I was the high school volleyball assistant coach for eight years and have been coaching MRH Youth Sports volleyball teams for the past four years. I am very excited to get back on the court with the MRH Volleyball team.

Sarah Gerringer, Volleyball

  • My name is Sarah, I’m originally from Colorado but moved to Missouri last year. I’m a new momma with a 6-month-old bundle of joy! I’ve spent most of my adult life traveling the world and gaining lots of cross-cultural experience.

My husband and I lived in North Carolina where I coached two seasons of high school volleyball and fell in love with coaching young athletes! I am so excited to have this opportunity and am looking forward to the season ahead!

Sonya Diehl, Softball

  • My journey began in Ohio and continued in Arkansas, where I spent 25 years in the field of education, with 19 of those years dedicated to St. Louis Public Schools. My love for sports was evident from a young age, as I excelled in basketball and track in high school and even earned a college scholarship for basketball.

I continued to stay involved in summer sports, playing softball and participating in various traveling leagues. My passion for sports extended to coaching, where I led girls basketball at the middle school level and girls basketball, volleyball, and softball at the high school level.
I earned my bachelor's in K-12 Physical Education from Williams Baptist University in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

I am certified to teach K-12 Health and K-12 Physical Education. During the 2016-2017 school year, I was a Teacher of the Year finalist.

I enjoy cycling, swimming, and spending time with my family.

Brad Hiles, Track

  • I’m the new throws coach (discus, javelin and shot put) on the track team. MRH High School has a rich history of track and field excellence, so I’m honored to be part of the program. My path to coaching is a little unusual. I’m a retiree who enjoyed an invigorating career outside of athletics for 42 years. Track & Field paid my way through college, and I’ve followed the sport all of my adult life. After retirement, I volunteered as a throws coach for three years at Vashon High School, not knowing if I would be effective. Things worked out, with two state qualifiers in the shot, two in the discus and one in the javelin. A discus thrower won the Missouri 3A championship last year. Those athletes deserve all the credit; I was thrilled to be along for the ride.

My philosophy of coaching is to train hard, have fun along the way, and the distances will be there. My greatest blessings in life have been as a husband to Toni for 47 years, a father of 3 and grandfather of 9.
