Supporting MRH With Your Brand
-
Businesses and organizations operating within the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District (MRH) community now have an opportunity to support MRH athletics and activities by purchasing banner advertisements in certain areas of the High School/Middle School track and field complex and gymnasiums, as well as on the District’s website and within online presentations of MRH competitions/activities, weekly newsletter and on electronic scoreboard screens. Because the ads are being sold by MRH, all the revenue goes directly to student programs except any printing or ad development costs incurred by the District.
The Board of Education permits the MRH School District to accept or solicit revenue-generating advertising on District property or in District publications under Board Policy KI. Such advertising will be limited to the name, address, phone number, Internet address and logo of the advertiser. All advertising must be compliant with the District's wellness policy (ADF) and procedures.

MRH Advertising Policy
It is the intent of the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District to operate a nonpublic forum and, except as allowed by Board Policy KI, advertisement is prohibited on District property. For the purposes of Policy KI, an advertisement includes but is not limited to in-person solicitation, signs and banners, pamphlets, handouts, distribution through district technology, or other distribution of information regarding products or services available or for sale. This policy and procedure do not prohibit speech in circumstances where it is protected by law. The District may control the content of advertising as allowed by law and reserves all rights to accept/reject prospective advertisers/sponsors.
An advertisement will be defined as a public communication which promotes a product, service, brand or event. Sponsorship will be defined as money given to support ongoing MRH events or activities. School sponsorship and advertisement does not imply that the District personally endorses the company or sponsors its products or services.
Advertising on District property or at District events may not include information or materials that:
-
Are obscene to minors.
-
Are libelous.
-
Advertise any product or service not permitted to minors by law.
-
Constitute insulting or fighting words, the very expression of which injures or harasses other people (i.e threats of violence, defamation of character or of a person's race, religion or ethnic origin).
-
Present a clear and present likelihood that, either because of their content or their manner of distribution, they will cause a material and substantial disruption of the proper and orderly operation and discipline of the school or school activities or will cause the commission of unlawful acts or the violation of lawful school procedures. In addition, the District will not allow advertisements that are contrary to exclusivity contracts, USDA regulations, state and federal regulations, or other MRH policies and regulations.
The District may accept or solicit revenue-generating advertising in gymnasiums, athletic fields and other facilities primarily used for extracurricular activities. All such revenue-generating advertising shall be permitted only upon the approval of Central Office administration. The District may also accept or solicit advertising on extracurricular activity schedules, programs, newspapers, yearbooks or other district-sponsored publications and online presentations in accordance with the general rules set forth above.
Advertising will be limited to the name, address, phone number, Internet address and logo of the advertiser.
Advertising/sponsorship rates will be determined by the Department of Communications in consultation with the Office of the Chief Financial Officer and the Director of Athletics/Activities. The District will offer tiers, or levels of support, to prospective advertisers and sponsors. The available package for each tier will be for a period of time between the first day of the academic calendar year through the final day of the academic calendar year, generally late August through late May.
Because the ads are being sold by MRH, all revenue goes directly to student programs.
The District will create and maintain an online resource for interested prospective advertisers and sponsors. This resource will explain the tiers of support structure. The Director of Athletics will assume the role of primary contact person for advertising and sponsorship requests related to athletics and extracurriculars. The Director of Communications will assume the role of primary contact person for advertising and sponsorship requests unrelated to athletics and extracurriculars.
